Project 8: Effects of Global Warming (use of visual aids)

Effects of Global Warming

Phew it’s been a long and hot day. The days are getting hotter and hotter.

We are living in a world where we are experiencing Global Warming. A short def on what is Global Warming? Global Warming refers to an average increase in the Earth’s Temp. Which in turn causes changes in climate? A warmer earth will lead to changes in rainfall pattern, a rise in sea level and a wide range of impacts of plants, wildlife and humans.

Now coming to the Effects of Global Warming?

The concentration of GHGs i.e. Greenhouse Gases such as methane and carbon monoxide in the atmosphere are a result of the fossil fuels that we use to do things in our daily lives.  In generating electricity, fuel to run our cars, production of consumer goods and also large amounts of carbon monoxide is exhibited from airplanes.

The current concentrations are about 380 parts per million.

We keep saying it’s getting warmer, it’s getting warmer. How much warmer is it?

According to the study of scientist globally the mercury is already up more than 1 degree Fahrenheit.  It may sound less to us just a degree but every degree makes a difference in our world, in our life. .

When will the climate change occur?                                                                                                                       The effects of rising temp aren’t waiting, they’re happening right now. It is not going to wait for anyone but continue to harm the world we are living in. It will harm the wildlife in the world as well.

What wildlife will be affected?

The wildlife that are being affected due to Global Warming are: Caribou, Arctic foxes, Toads, Polar Bears, Penguins, Gray Wolves, Tree swallows, Painted Turtles and Salmon are the few to name who are being affected.

Global Warming is having a grave impact in the world due to increase in temp.      Some impacts from increasing temp are:

1.Ice is melting esp. at the earth’s pole thus making it difficult for animals living in these regions like the penguins.                                                                       2. Sea level is rising thus causing floods and high tides.                                              3. Precipitation has increased across the globe.

Signs are everywhere:

  1. Glaciers are melting.
  2. The sea levels are increasing thus causing floods.
  3. Deforestation.

There are so many…countless.

How much more are we to experience before we get realize and start doing something.

What can we do?                                                                                                                       1. Switch to renewable energy.                                                                                                                                         2. Using energy smart appliances.                                                                                        3. Only turning on lights when you are using them.                                                                                                                                              4. Closing the tap when while you are brushing your teeth.                                                                                                                                                5. Driving less, do more car pools.                                                                                                                                              6. No use of plastic.                                                                                                                                              7. Go environment friendly.

Tomorrow’s climate is today’s challenge so take up the challenge and do something for your environment by following some of the points to help in stopping Global Warming.

the effect of Global Warming these days is even worst. i think every government should pass stricter laws on Carbon Emissions. we should also concentrate more on renewable energy sources and avoid fossil fuels.

  2. Tacnet says:

We should be more concerned about Global Warming and Climate Change because Typhoons are getting much stronger and there are greater incidence of Flooding. take for example the recent Typhoon Ketsana which devastated some countries in South East Asia.

  3. Alicia Meyer says:

Global Warming and Climate Change is the biggest environmental issue that we face these days. the long term effects of these environmental changes to a nations economy is quite damaging. there would be a shortage in food supply as well as on water supply too.

  4. Digital Book Reader says:

Every one on internet searches for quality content. Its very unfortunate with most of the websites published posts that are boring and out of context articles, just to show that new material is being published. Contrary to that immoral practice, this article is a well-written article.

  5. Amelia Enkerud says:

You seem very knowledgable about this issue and it shows. Trust all your future posts turn out as well. Cheers!

This is very good information post. I just roughly ready through your post. Now I have not much time. Will bookmark it and comeback to read tonight. Regards.

  7. Martin Isleib says:

There must be some option to stop those natural disastor from happening…we must think forward of every risk, at the very least we should always do what we needs to be doing…

  8. Lewis Robinson says:

The effects of Global Warming is getting much stronger these days. We should concentrate more on alternative energy to reduce carbon emissions.
